Gandini Juggling Seeks Volunteer Jugglers Nov 2

Volunteer jugglers wanted for Akhnaten at Brooklyn Museum.
Gandini Juggling is looking for amateur jugglers to join its rank for this unique project in partnership with Brooklyn Museum and the Metropolitan Opera.
On November 8, 2019, Philip Glass’s extraordinary opera Akhnaten will have its Metropolitan Opera premiere in a new production by visionary director Phelim McDermott. The staging has played previously in London and Los Angeles, where it received a rapturous response.
In celebration of this momentous premiere, the Met is partnering for the first time ever with the Brooklyn Museum—home to one of the world’s great collections of Egyptian art—as part of the museum’s First Saturdays series.
In order to reach out to this audience, the Met has engaged a remarkable group of artists to create a 30-minute performance piece that will be performed twice over the course of the November 2 First Saturdays event and which will bring a taste of Akhnaten to the public.
The performance will include two musical excerpts from Akhnaten, as well as an additional work by Philip Glass, to be performed by Roth Costanzo, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and the Mannes School of Music’s Philip Glass Institute. The performance showcases the dynamic work of the virtuoso Gandini Juggling troupe, led by Akhnaten choreographer and master juggler Sean Gandini.
Professional and student artists will be joined by a number of amateur jugglers to perform a newly created acrobatic spectacle as part of the program.
